In the face of growing challenges such as housing shortages, land scarcity, and rapid societal transformations, young couples and individuals are increasingly in need of practical, accessible, and flexible housing solutions. Whether in urban or rural environments, the search for a place to call home requires adaptability, affordability, and inclusivity.

Village Units is an innovative architectural proposition that addresses these challenges through a system of modular, scalable units. Designed as a set of basic building blocks, this project enables the creation of a wide variety of housing typologies that respond to different needs and lifestyles.


A Vision for Urban Densification and Social Inclusion:The project contributes to the densification of the urban fabric by making underutilized spaces valuable assets in their immediate context. From rooftops to parking lots, backyards, and even natural spaces outside the city, these adaptable modules offer a dynamic and resourceful way to activate neglected areas. By enabling accessibility to central locations, Village Units fosters equal opportunities, economic affordability and inclusivity.


Flexibility and Adaptability for a Changing Society:One of the core principles of this project is to provide solutions that adapt to everyone’s needs. The modular system offers a high degree of flexibility, allowing users the freedom to configure, expand, or relocate their living spaces as their circumstances evolve. Whether seeking community living or a more isolated retreat, Village Units supports diverse lifestyles with ease of adjustment and mobility.


Scalability - From Individual Homes to Thriving Communities:Beyond individual housing, this project proposes the foundational elements of a small village. By assembling the base modules in multiple configurations, the system allows for the organic growth of a community that can scale from a few units to an entire neighborhood. The ability to generate different typologies ensures that the architecture remains responsive to changing demands and future expansions.


A New Way to Build and Live:Village Units is more than just a housing concept—it is a framework for rethinking how we inhabit spaces in an era of transformation. By leveraging modularity, adaptability, and strategic urban activation, this project paves the way for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient built environment.

One box at the time
Nestled between the enduring volcanic geology of Myvatn and the mesmerizing dance of the Northern Lights across the Icelandic sky, our project is an ode to the captivating intersection of nature and culture. Here, in a cross-section where the rich cultural tapestry of humans is woven into the very fabric of the environment, traditions thrive and express themselves through architecture, rituals, and the daily habits of the people.

The inspiration for the beer spa is drawn from the traditional house attic, where each programmatic zone is encapsulated within playful boxes. Visitors are invited to transition from one distinct space to another, creating a whimsical and discovery-filled journey. It’s an immersive proposition, inviting guests to engage with the cultural and spa experiences in a mood of playfulness and exploration. The introduction of sloped roofs and the use of local materials pay homage to the cultural heritage, creating a harmonious blend of past and present. Our project, at its core, is a fusion of tradition, innovation, and the enchanting spirit of Myvatn, offering a unique and memorable experience for all, who step into its embrace.

Observation cabins
This proposal is about the moment of observation, the connection between men, as an animal, with other animals. Its purpose is to awake our primal instincts and allow an immersion in nature and childhood amazement. For that to happen, the project implements a juxtaposition of  two contradictory elements with a simple tectonic connection: at the base a primal structure (with the use of stones), on the top an intriguing forms with an unsure purpose.


Through the use of simple elements, similar to the Thriliton structures found on ancient sites, the project creates a fragile and intriguing equilibrium that triggers our curiosity and astonishment.


During their journey on the shore, the visitors will encounter three different objects and typologies that lead to live phenomenological experiences with materiality, space and environment.

Cultural center


The center, in it two parts, is conceived as transitional moment for the visitor, a way to start the immersion into the wild environment of the reserve. it’s main focus is to highlight the caracteristics of the surounding context and serve as an infrastructure to implement the need of the organisation.

The materiality and scale serve to, subtly, embed the buildings in it immediate rural context and mark the landscape as a reference point (an urban signal) in the region. 
The roof plays an important role in the visual identity of the buildings and gives them the image of a shelter that houses the various activities of the reserve. It also plays the role of a device that control the sun exposure when needed and channel daylight to the appropriate areas.

Le projet Connexion se propose comme un centre de réorientation professionnelle et de travail collaboratif. Un lieu de cohésion sociale et d’hyper flexibilité permettant d’amortir le choc des changements futures (automatisation dans le marcher du travail) et d’accroître le niveau de résilience économique au sein de la société. 
Tel un catalyseur social, il aura comme objectif principal le développement de 3 axes majeurs, à savoir: la connexion urbaine, la connexion humaine et la connexion entre les savoir-faire.


Connexion urbaine:
Pour éviter de concurrencer le patrimoine architectural existant sur l’îlot, et pouvoir redonner naissance à la place St-Henri, comme étant un centre d’attractivité en la positionnant comme le cœur identitaire du quartier, le projet se devait d’être généreux en entraînant l’occupation au sol la plus minimale. D’où, le parti-pris de s’enraciner dans le sol, avec subtilité, en utilisant le jeu topographique comme la seule trace visible de l’insertion du projet.   


Etant situé sur un point nodal dans l’articulation des flux de circulation, la forme du bâtiment a été forgée pour renforcer les tracés existants et orchestrer une meilleure gestion de l’achalandage piétonnier que connaît le site aux heures de pointes. Aussi, l’emphase a été mise pour percer l’enclavement causé par la voie ferroviaire en établissant une connexion visuelle depuis la partie inférieure du pont jusqu’à la place St-Henri. De ce fait, le projet offre des plateformes d’appropriation citoyenne sur toutes les toitures du bâtiment et participe au désenclavement de la partie sud de St-Henri, la plus défavorisée. Les axes de circulation dominants dans le site sont sauvegardés et forment les tracés qui sont à l’origine de la morphologie finale du bâtiment. En les intégrant dès le début du processus de conception ils permettent au projet d’être un véritable point nodal, assimilant toute la complexité urbaine du site.    


Les façades du bâtiment s’adressent d’un côté à la rue notre dame, et de l’autre, à la sortie du métro, comme un élément signalétique pour marquer, à l’échelle urbaine, la présence du site et lui accorder une visibilité. 


Connexion humaine:L’architecture du bâtiment, reprend le vocabulaire de l’insertion par la topographie, sur laquelle on peut lire, encore, les traces des forces qui se sont exercées sur la forme du projet pour la faire surgir à la surface de la terre. Comme une vallée, dessinant un paysage plusieurs fois millénaires, l’expression du bâtiment se donne comme seul déterminant des points hauts et des points bas. Une silhouette qui ancre le projet dans le territoire avec l’impression qu’il faisait, de tout temps, partie du site.


Ainsi, au lieu de s’affirmer avec une taille démesurée, le projet instaure un contact à échelle humaine et convivial face au public, en générant des espaces qui s’offrent entièrement à la vue des passants depuis l’extérieur. Par leur position souterraine, les espaces créent un lieu unique, où l’intention est d’avantage focalisée sur le contenu de l’espace et les activités qui s’y déroulent, plutôt que sur l’extérieur. L’espace sera un endroit où la température et la lumière ambiante sont idéales pour travailler et produire dans un milieu favorable à la créativité.  


L’organisation spatiale du projet se déploie à l’horizontale et de façon linéaire pour favoriser la contiguïté des usages et usagers, et éviter de rompre la continuité de la circulation. Cette configuration favorise l’interaction et l’échange entre les occupants en offrant une visibilité continue de l’ensemble de l’espace. Aussi, des espaces de socialisation et des espaces verts sont parsemés à différents endroits du projet pour inviter la lumière, la nature et le changement saisons à pénétrer dans l’intériorité de l’espace et alléger la position souterraine du bâtiment. Avec ce geste la référence sensorielle pour le niveau du sol est déplacée, en partie, en-dessous des pieds, ce qui permet d’enlever la sensation de confinement dans un niveau souterrain.


Connexion des savoir-faire: 
Le rôle de l’architecture ici ne sera pas de montrer le chemin à suivre ou d’imposer une organisation spécifique à l’espace. Bien au contraire, dans le souci de flexibilité, l’architecture sera un agent facilitateur et ouvert à la liberté d’interprétation pour une meilleure adaptation avec les changements à venir. L’objectif principal est donc d’établir un contexte où diverses composantes de la société peuvent se retrouver pour exercer leur savoir-faire et célébrer le travail comme un moyen de partage et de socialisation. La gratuité de l’espace et la disponibilité d’infrastructures partagées (tel la connexion internet, des bureaux, des téléphones ou des ordinateurs) permettra une mixité des profils d’usagers et favorisera un échange horizontal entre les différentes composantes de la société, donnant lieu à une meilleure accessibilité à l’information et au partage du savoir.


Connexion programmatique:

La structure du projet s’organise autour de 3 pôles programmatiques complémentaires : un café/restaurant représentant le pôle social, un espace de travail pour le pôle de production et une zone de stockage / gestion pour le pôle administratif. Cette mixité programmatique des usages, entre la zone publique, semi-publique et privée, établie différents paliers comme étant des filtres poreux, multipliant les expériences de travail, en s’adaptant aux besoins des usagers. D’autre part, cette juxtaposition permet de doter le projet avec un caractère convivial, en l’ouvrant à l’ensemble des habitants et, de ce fait, participer à l’attractivité du site. Le positionnement des points de transit (l’agora et la bibliothèque) entre les pôles principaux, introduit une contamination programmatique au sein du projet, afin que l’espace architectural soit traversé par les contradictions sociales, économiques et urbaines du quartier St-Henri.

 Le nouveau pavillon du musée des beaux arts de Montréal s’inscrit dans une suite d’agrandissement pour répondre aux nouveaux besoins programmatiques du musée. Dans ce cadre-là, le parti pris architectural est de positionner le bâtiment dans le 21e siècle avec une approche extravertie, interagissant avec la ville de Montréal dans laquelle il se situe. L’idée étant de sortir du schéma habituellement ferme du musée pour l’ouvrir au grand public et le connecter avec les activités quotidiennes du quartier. Aussi, on a voulu exploiter la portée pédagogique et éducative de cette nouvelle extension pour appuyer l’attractivité du musée et par conséquent celle de la ville.
 Le défi principal étant de concilier entre la volonté d’ouverture et les réglementations strictes du musée en terme de protection des espaces d’exposition, un ensemble de dispositifs architecturaux ont été mis en place pour y remédier. Le mur intérieur en bois est l’un de ces dispositifs majeurs participant, à la fois, à la structure générale du bâtiment et à la division du projet en deux parties: un espace d’exposition (protégé) et un espace intermédiaire d’activités diverses. Vient par la suite le développement de la résille qui a permis de gérer les contraintes d’éblouissement et de surchauffe tout en s’intégrant, avec légèreté, dans le paysage urbain existant.

	La tour Opalescence se situe au centre-ville de Montréal, en face de la place des arts, entre l’avenue du président Kennedy et boulevard de Maisonneuve. L’enjeu principal derrière cette proposition est de d’aborder le thème de la tour spéculative qui implique la conception d’une architecture flexible, sans connaitre le programme ou les besoins spécifiques des futurs usagers.


Dans un contexte urbain très complexe et hétéroclite la tour s’insère en opérant un geste de retrait simple et répétitif sur chaque façade. Ce geste lui permet de s’ajuster en hauteur avec les bâtiments avoisinant, quand il est nécessaire, pour finir en hauteur avec une forme pure. La forme irrégulière de l’ilot et le respect des superficies requises nous a poussé à tirer profit de cette typologie et donner une forme singulière à la tour. Une silhouette fine et élégante.


La tour s’adresse principalement à la place des festivals grâce aux alignements qui donnent à l’entrée principale une visibilité depuis cette dernière. De plus, l’enveloppe du bâtiment est constituée d’un mur rideau, en verre miroir sérigraphié, avec une ornementation qui souligne les gestes d’intégration. D’où, l’utilisation des bandes blanches et verticale qui permettent de réfléchir la lumière d’un côté et d’incarner l’essence de la légèreté de l’autre.

Ce projet est la résultante d’un ensemble d’analyses effectuées au sujet du site dans lequel il s’insère. C’était d’abord à la question d’intégration qu’il a fallu répondre, ou comment profiter du site et des opportunités qu’il représente sans altérer ses principales caractéristiques et l’usage qui en est fait avant l’intervention. Il a fallu donc trouver un consensus entre plusieurs paramètres qui se sont accumulés tout au long du développement du projet, représentant d’un côté les besoins du programme et de l’autre la réalité du «contexte» avec son aspect formel, visuel et matériel.


- Le projet prend forme avec du bois non traité comme matériau principal, lui conférant une intégration harmonieuse avec son environnement boisé.


-Les espaces intérieurs se sont orientés de façon à cadrer le paysage forestier environnant.


-La butte a servi d’élément de séparation naturelle entre la partie publique du programme et la partie privée.


-Le dénivelé du talus a été intégré dans tout l’espace intérieur du projet pour réconcilier le rapport entre la butte et le bâtiment.


-La distribution vers tous les blocs se fait à partir d’une plate-forme qui se veut publique, en connectant le point haut et le point bas de la butte, inscrivant le bâtiment dans la continuité de l’espace public existant (perméable au flux de circulation).

L’école Ste-Bibiane se situe au croisement du Bd. Rosemont / Rue Lafond et propose dans son programme une bibliothèque pour le quartier et une serre dans laquelle des cours pédagogique sont prévus pour les élèves. 
Cette nouvelle extension place le rapport entre le nouveau et l’existant au coeur du processus de conception. De plus, le choix d’implantation se fait dans le respect du patrimoine architectural de l’école et s’insère de façon harmonieuse avec l’existant ; Cette approche, nourrit par des paramètres bioclimatiques et environnementaux, se traduit par l’implantation du côté Nord-Est du bâtiment (rue Lafond) afin de donner aux deux parties une façade qui leur est propre et ainsi une liberté d’expression. 


Pour simplifier la circulation et avoir une lecture claire de l’espace, le projet s’insère formellement en bande programmatique, selon un axe qui dessert l’ensemble du bâtiment. Cet axe représente pour le concept du projet un dispositif central permettant d’ouvrir davantage l’école vers l’extérieur, et d’offrir une spatialité plus adaptée aux nécessités changeantes de l’enseignement. 


De là, est généré un espace intermédiaire qui s’inscrit dans une séquence de dilatation et de compression venant lier (à l’image d’un filament) l’ensemble des cours, en proposant un espace multi-fonctionnel dans lequel les classes peuvent s’ouvrir, pour pratiquer un enseignement alternatif plus adapté aux besoins de chaque élève et ouvert sur la communauté estudiantine. 


Le travail sur la volumétrie vise, dans un premier temps, l’optimisation des performances énergétiques du projet et son intégration avec le contexte rapproché, et particulièrement le centre communautaire où se trouve le gymnase de l’école. De ce fait, la 5ème façade joue un rôle primordial, dans le sens où elle est conçue comme un mécanisme qui contrôle, en fonction des espaces et leurs usages, le niveau d’exposition au soleil.
